1.     GMS Office Notices

A.    Dr. Garcia would like to have an important budget committee meeting on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 8am in the WAR room.

B.     Math Solutions Training on our campus June 1-4 is for math teachers only, and our school was only given 11 spots for teachers to attend.  It was decided a couple of weeks ago which math teachers would be attending and they have already registered for the training.

C.     GMS is proposing to adopt computer software called SWIS (school wide information system) for tracking/recording discipline issues.  Per Dr. Garcia, all teachers need to have input into developing the referral form and to development uniform definitions for the behaviors.  To accomplish that, there will be mandatory meetings each period on Tues, April 27 in the library.  Each meeting will begin 10 minutes after the bell rings.  Please print out the  attachments you received from Ms. Swanson last week and bring them with you for discussion

 

2.     Gadsden Administrative Complex

A.    Open the appropriate files to view the approved district calendars for the 2010-2011 school years.

 

 

 

3.     High Performance Governance Teams

A.    Mrs. Andrea L. Cawson, Mrs. Maria E. Sanxter, and Dr. "G" will give a WEB-EPSS training to the HPGT on Friday, April 30, 2010 in the library.  Please bring your WEB-EPSS, 3 ring binders; arrangements are being made with Mrs. Swanson to use the library computers.  The administration will send an agenda with times of the training as soon as the training site has been arranged.  Mrs. Swanson will meet on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 with teachers to give information on the SWIS.  If you have questions please contact Dr. "G" for more information.  Thank you!

 

4.     Student Announcements

A.    Play close attention to the morning and afternoon announcements for information about boys soccer.

B.     Congratulations to Ariana Bautista for her second place finish at the Santa Teresa Invitational Golf Tournament last week.

C.     We will have a ‘Cinco de Mayo’ dance this year!

 

5.     Health Center/Nurse

A.    No announcements at this time.

 

6.     Organizations

A.    The District Art Show is scheduled for May 2, 2010 at Chaparral Middle School.

B.     P.A.L. students will be on fieldtrips this week. Please open the attachments to have a list of who will be out of your classes.

C.     Teachers: Mr. Chadwick sent you a list of students who will be attending a field trip on Thursday, April 29, 2010.  Students are responsible for any work they miss in your class.  If you have any questions please let me know.

 

7.     Community Announcements

A.    Very important announcements will be going home soon. They can be opened as Quality of “Ed Survey letters 2010” & “Campus Quality of Ed totals report exel”.

 

8.     Other Announcements

A.    For a paid summer workshop opportunity for science and health teachers, please open the attachment ‘Summer Workshop Opportunity.”

B.     The Advanced Placement Initiative is requesting letters of interest from New Mexico public schools that wish to be part of a special demonstration project of student performance in AP Spanish Language and AP Studio Art. 

 

If you are currently offering these courses and the AP exam to students in grades 8-12 and would like to work with us to facilitate and evaluate your program in either of these subjects, including your approaches to recruiting students; developing teachers; classroom content and pedagogy; providing special supports to students; motivating and incentivizing students, especially to take the exam and qualify for college credit; and defray exam fee costs, contact Marybeth Schubert at mschubert@nmapi.org.

 

We will select a first cohort of demonstration schools by the end of May 2010.
